Estate planning is a process. Family circumstances, obligations owed to dependents, assets and other factors serve to make everyone unique. When preparing your Will and Powers of Attorney, it is important to consider all these factors as well as family law issues and tax issues and their relationship to estates law. Some of the estate planning services we offer at Berry Gage LLP include:

  • Wills
  • Powers of Attorney for Personal Care
  • Powers of Attorney for Property
  • Reviews of your Estate Plan
  • Disability planning (Henson Trusts)
  • Life Insurance designations and declarations
  • Family Trusts (and other inter vivos trusts)

At Berry Gage LLP, when someone dies, we are here to guide you, clarify your role as estate trustee, and assist you with what can be complex processes and decisions at a difficult time. We will advise you the obligations and responsibilities that come with your role.

We are flexible and ready to assist you as much or as little by:

  • Reviewing the Will
  • Reviewing or creating the inventory of assets and liabilities
  • Making a court application for Certificate of Appointment of Estate Trustee with (or without) a Will only if necessary
  • Calculation of estates administration tax (probate fees)
  • Communicating with financial institutions and insurance companies on your behalf
  • Determining distribution to beneficiaries
  • Advising you with respect to the records and accounting required of an estate trustee
  • Reporting to beneficiaries

We can help your business with information sessions for groups about topics such as Wills, Powers of Attorney, Charitable Giving, Insurance Declarations or Trusts (Family or Henson).

Information sessions can help your employees, volunteers and donors make the best decisions for their estate planning.
